2nd VIPERLAB workshop on Peroskite Solar Cells Characterization

Tandem solar cells have always aroused a very high interest thanks to their higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) compared to single junction solar cells, although the latter continue to dominate the market due to their simplicity of construction and low costs.

On the other hand, Perovskite (PSK) solar cells (PSK SC or PSC for short) are undergoing rapid development, and power conversion efficiency has long since exceeded 25% for single-junction solar cells. and 32% for PSK/Silicon tandem solar cells, based on low-cost materials, and this represents a disruptive interest for its future transfer to industry and market

Acquiring a more in-depth knowledge of PSK technology requires advanced and standardized methods of structural, electrical, optical and electronic characterization which are necessary and fundamental for further improvement of performance and reliability.

The VIPERLAB project promotes collaboration between academia and industry, precisely by connecting and supporting the European perovskite research and development community through access to physical and virtual infrastructures, educational resources and networking activities with the aim of improving the know-how and best practices regarding the manufacturing, characterization, reliability, LCA and environmental impact of the PSK technology.

In conjunction with the 2nd Annual Assembly of VIPERLAB, the Viperlab project proposes this hybrid event with the involvement of HZB, AIT, Fraunhofer ISE, EPFL, UniTOV, ENEA, which is based precisely on the needs and advantages of a standardized and homogeneous approach for regarding device characterization and processing, overview of measurement principles and differences from standard silicon solar cell calibration, good practices for measuring tandem devices at the laboratory level and will conclude with a presentation of Viperlab activities in characterization and standardization, external monitoring of single and tandem devices and fabrication of mechanically stacked 2T peroskite tandem devices
