The department for Interface Design offers a PhD research position on the topic of advanced spectroscopic characterization of halide perovskite materials and their interfaces in photovoltaic devices.
They are looking for a highly motivated and curious scientist holding a MSc degree in physics, (physical) chemistry, or material science.
- Knowledge in the operation of ultrahigh vacuum equipment and using X-ray spectroscopies is mandatory.
- Background in photovoltaic materials research is appreciated but not required (enthusiasm for such topics is strongly recommended!).
- An independent communication and collaboration with project partners to organize sample exchange and measurement campaigns.
- Excellent English communication skills are necessary.
- Additional German skills are advantageous.
- High level of intercultural competence and ability to work in a team is necessary

The offered PhD position focusses on the study of long term operational behavior of PSC modules and module failure tests through a number of material characterization techniques (spectroscopic, imaging, ) combined with imaging techniques damp heat and thermal cycling to gain insight in the material properties and potential loss mechanisms and it will extend to comparison with outdoor testing to establish the correlation accelerated/outdoor tests.
