CEA at a glance

CEA is the French Commission for Atomic and Alternative Energies; a public body with 16’000 people and EUR 4.3 billion annual budget. It is a technology research and development provider; whose role is to transfer its know-how to industry. Within CEA, the division LITEN is a major European research institute and a driving force behind the development of sustainable energy technologies of the future (renewable energies, energy efficiency/storage and development of materials). It includes the Department of Solar Technologies (CEA-INES), organized in Division spanning the entire PV value chain.

Main role and tasks in the project

CEA will lead WP9-JRA3, Characterization & standardization: stability, reliability, test protocols and standards. It will contribute in WP2-TA1, User friendly management of TA and VA to dedicated research infrastructures; WP3-VA1, Database infrastructure and simulation and data analysis tools; WP7-JRA1 Materials and device innovation infrastructure; and WP10-JRA4 Environmental, social and economic impact

Infrastructures

  • Realization, advanced characterization and optimization of single junction Perovskite (cell and modules, rigid and flexible) and tandem silicon/Perovskite cells
  • Encapsulation and stability/aging protocols vs standards and ISOS recommendation
  • Optical and Electrical modelling
